About the work: Citrus sinensisis the second drawing from the series Plants of Andalucia, made with sepia-coloured ink. When living in southern Spain, I was absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of oranges all around. My Slavic eye, used to the grey surroundings decorated with red glass balls in December, was constantly surprised by bright orange fruits growing on green trees along the street. So, I decided to turn this impression into a drawing that will remind me of the sunny winter times in Andalucia.
Citrus sinensis, just like Punica granatum and Olea europaea, depicts a natural symbol and flavour of Spain. The orange for me is also the symbol of the sun. It always makes the winter warmer and cosier, and I hope that this artwork will bring the sun, warmth and a cosy feeling to your home. Winter, beware!
Citrus sinensis makes a nice couple with Punica granatum. Have a look at Punica granatum print too and consider purchasing them together.
