About the work: Punica granatum is the first work from the series Plants of Andalucia. While drawing, I was fascinated by the form of the pomegranate. I was observing its irregular shape, diversified skin texture, and partly translucent seeds, and the dramatic way it cracks when ripe. It is also a symbol of Granada, my favourite city in Andalucia. For this reason, the Arabic ornaments so typical of the architecture of that region always appear in my mind when I think of the pomegranate. This artwork is a memory of the autumn Spanish sun, the Arabic architecture and the taste of the pomegranate.

Punica granatum makes a nice couple with Citrus sinensis. Have a look at Citrus sinensis print too and consider purchasing them together.
